Writers' Daily Routines
Ever wonder if your writing habits are similar to those of famous writers? Daily Routines is a new blog which lists the writing habits (when they could be found) of several writing greats. And it's a surprisingly fascinating read.
What I found most interesting is that most writers seem to only be able to write a few hours a day - they must be taken by the muse and that can only be allowed for so long as it's a somewhat uncomfortable state. (And I must admit to feeling the same way.)
What's your writing schedule?

Oddly enough, I wrote about this yesterday on my blog.

I'm trying to figure out what my ideal routine is. I've functioned well at 1,000 words a day, but go long periods between projects, so I'm starting to wonder if a smaller (less demanding) daily goal might actually boost my overall output.
I wish that I could say my routine was daily, 7 days a week. First thing in the morning would be good because my brain works more intuitively then (and maybe more creatively too?). But I tend to work helter skelter, sometimes 12 hours a day and sometimes zero.
And I tend to write best at night after dinner. Sometimes I think I work best under deadline, as in 'I'm not going to bed until I have a draft of this done!' But I seem to be more reflective in the evenings and better at integrating more pieces at that time. The rest of the day my writing is more purposeful or task-driven, as in business correspondence or website writing. I write my best blog posts at night. Thanks for the link to the 'Daily Routines' site, I'll check it out!
Y'all keep posting your own routines - they're fun to read! :) e
